Default Help me figure-out a noise I'm hearing.

I was on the way to an appointment. Low on gas but not showing the warning, yet. I heard some rotational whirring and clicking coming from someplace. It seemed to me that it was happening about mid-way of the dash and windshield. It was raining and I had intermittent wipers going. But, I'd hear this noise when the wipers weren't running.

Because it was coming from up front, I thought it had something to do with Fuel Delivery ... remember, I'm low enough to get the light and did before getting to the office.
Would I hear the Fuel Pump? Is there a secondary pressure pump in that area?

The noise sounded like it was on and off with a rhythm to it.

i have no clue on if there is a secondary pressure pump. behind the dash the only thing i could thing of that sounds rotational would be the blower motor for the heat/air. sorry this probably isn't much help just my late night brainstorming

Could it have been the sound of the windshield wiper motor going through it's rotational cycle?

Justa thought maybe.

if you had the air on this would be the most likely cause of the sound... i geta similarsometimes if i switch air settings .. its lik a grinding/whirring sound

I don't know what the noise is ... I just know it sounds strange after never hearing it until just recently.

I don't want it to be something that is a Preview of Coming Destructions. I've been having NO problems with this Monte since I managed to get my ampleness laid-across that driver-side front quarter replacing firewall side spark plugs.

That was fun! Not!

do you have your a/c-heat settings somewhere in between the two sides? or one on each? you could be confusing hte system. also, it oculd have been the wiper motor. my car makes the sound menitoned when you switch from air to heat.
