2002 monte ls , hearing a noise help
hey ppl of this forum i am hearing either a winding or scraping noise coming from the front of my car, to further explain this , between 40-50 mph my car used to make this noise then it would go away but i recently go my tires changed and gotten my alignment done so this has stopped but now i noticed it is still happing but now it happends when my car is turning i hear this noise, it doesnt happen when im driving on the road but when im on the highway, as the highway has slight turns i start hearin this noise then when my wheel straightens out i hear this noise again. If anyone of you can give me an idea of what the problem may be that would be cool, and im looking forward to posting more on this forum.

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me. As you drive down the road, zig zag back and forth. The sound will dramatically change and that will give it away. Dont leave it as the result of losing a wheel bearing is catastrophic.

There is a wheel bearing on each side. It is fairly easy to wreck the bearing when you put it in if you dont do it right. It is less likely power steering. It would make noise when your stopped and turning, you wouldn't hear much at highway speed. See if there is a shop that will test drive it for you and tell you. Good luck.
