Default when turning the wheel, It's not complety a smooth turn?

It's hard to explain. When I turn the wheel slowly, I feel something, like a jump, but cracking type. It's very very faint. The only way you can tell is just by turning slow (such as turning while using the brakes, 10 mph). I think it's the ball point? Any one else have any ideas?

thanks

That's not really enough details to tell you what it is, I understand it's hard to explain things like that though. One suggestion is just to take both front tires off and check to see if anything is broke or loose. Check the tie rod ends, sway bar (stabilizer bar if ya wanna be technical), brake calipers, etc etc. If you can't find anything, when the wheels are off and the car is in the air, have someone turn the steering all the way in both directions and see if you can figure out what's makin the noise. Other than that it's hard to say what yer problem is, someone else might have more suggestions for ya

Tie rods will make a squeaking sound when you turn the wheel, generally not a cracking sound. So I'm fairly sure it's not those. But you say you feel it while applying the brakes too? I'd have the brakes checked, might be the ball point, don't know much about that though.

Not enough details, but it sounds like it might be a hub bearing, also

This sounds like it could also be the common Intermediate steering shaft problem all our cars seems to have the problem with.
Check this thread out and see if this seems like your problem.

Thanks guys for all your replies. It's a 2004 SS.It does indeed sound exactly what I have. A customer at work had a 70 Monte carlo, he was looking for a screw in the hardware dept for his arm rest I if memory serves right. Quite a nice person. (Random I know, but having some one come in and say "It's for a 70 Monte carlo". I almost got into a conversation with him but didnt have time.
Thanks again for the help
