Moaning noise when turning wheel???
Its been real cold up here in NE and lately ive been hearing a moaning type noise when engine is cool and steering wheel is being turned ..
This fall when engine was first started a slight squeaking noise came from the main belt..Car is mint 03 SS with 89000 miles..
Does this mean new or adjustment to i think they call it the serp belt??
Or just wait till it gets warm again in 5 months..lol
Any input appreciated..

Yep all set!!
Thanks guys above me!! Took out the coolant overflow resevoir to locate pump..fluid was only an inch or less down and there is no leakage on the garage floor ever..BUT just adding that little bit using a long type funnel and mercon fluid and presto !! no more noise..oh and by the way..while running the engine i used to get a squealing noise from serp belt when cold..anyways i took a rag and while engine running let the belt clean itself on the rag in my hand..alot of dirt etc. came off and no noise from belt now either!!

Glad it fixed the problem...But you used Mercon fluid? The power steering in these cars does not take transmission fluid. You should change your power steering fluid now, and use the genuine GM fluid. GM has a "cold climate" power steering fluid that is supposed to work better for cars used in cold temps. The power steering pumps in these cars are finicky enough with the recommended fluid, so you may be asking for problems mixing power steering fluid with Mercon ATF.

Ive never had any problems with using ATF in the power steering pump. Thats all I run in any vehicle I have ever owned. Thats whats in my MC right now and has been for over 2 years with no problems whatsover.
