Too wide

Default Too wide

whats the widest i can go with rims on my 02 montecarlo without having to mess with other things? does putting rims mess your brakes up?

i'm pretty sure 8.5's will fit...which is the most common when you get to 20" rims..i wouldn't go any wider than 8.5 for the rim

I have no firsthand experience with this, but I'd imagine you'd want to stay as close to 8" wide as possible.

as far as them messing up your brakes, I have never seen a wider or even a talle rwheel tear up anything as far as Mechanically .

NOW!!
the larger the tire gets the more rolling mass you have so think of it this way the larger the mass the harder it is for those brakes to stop it.
So a brake up grade is always a good bet for the new 20's etc... that are out .
other wise you will have to stop a block a head of time becuse you will roll that far.

also make sure even if you dont upgrade the whole system to at least get a good quality set of pads for the brakes. so you know they will help stop you some also.
