How wide a wheel/Tire for G-body
My car is a non ss 84 Monte carlo-it now has a 388 stroker motor with dynoed 514 hp at 6800 rpm..th400 tranny with a boss hog 2800 converter and a 12 bolt posi rear out of a 69 chevelle with 3.08 gears, 3.73 going in this spring. I put 15 x10 weld wheels in the rear with l-60-15 tires...here's my dilemma, when I have people in the rear seat and i get into it a lil bit the rear end squats down and I tear up the tires vis the fender wells....the rear end is about one inch wider each side then the stock rear end...I was told no way I can keep the 10 " wheels on the car. I think I might get 8 1/2 wheels and put new variable rate coil springs in the car as well. My rear wheels have a 5 1/2 inch back space, or at least I think that's what they are. I just bought a set of new nitto drag radials 275-60-15 and I want to fix this issue before I install them. Any ideas???
Try rolling the fenders first before you do anything drastic.
Stick a ball bat in between the tire and fender, and have someone sit in the trunk. Pop the car into neutral, have a couple guys push the car forward while you roll the bat and gradually guide it around the fender lip. It sounds much more difficult than it actually is.
Don'tstrike the fender lip with the bat, just use the radius along with the tire and the weight to gently roll the lip.
It's a pretty standard procedure for this sort of situation.

Do you have any pics? I have an 84 also, and a set of centerline style rims, two 15X8, two 15X10. I have the stock rear end though, and I am wondering if I can run these rims. Thanks in advance!
