I have an '86 Monte Carlo SS. Got it ~ 2 years ago as a complete surprise Christmas gift from my wife (almost had a heart attack!). It's in very good condition as far as I can tell, but frankly I know very little about cars, I just like the Monte Carlo's
It came with 215 65 R 15 Goodyear Eagles. I'd like to get some 'performance' tires on it, maybe Mickey Thompsons. I'm wondering what my options are and likely outcomes:
F'r instance: if I go with a wider rim/tire, may I presume that will make cornering even better than it all ready is? What effect, if any, would a taller tire have?
What are my options in terms of rim sizes/brands? Anyone know off hand or know how to find out?
I tried to get a 'performance shop' about an hour away from me to recommend/locate/order some Mickey Thompson tires with rims that would fit my SS, but they keep putting me off.
I'm open to suggestions...
