Default Tire Review

Hi All,

Just put some new tires and struts on my Monte...thought I'd share my experiences with you all.

My Monte has Michelin Hydroedge tires on it all the way around. The tires handled great, excellent traction in the rain, quiet, and wore evenly throughout the life of the tire. I got 100,000 miles out of the set...that's right 100K. Very pleased with these tires.

Being so pleased, I went to buy new tires and wanted the same ones. Michelin discontinued the Hydroedge and replaced it with the Defender. Same warranty as the older Hydroedge. So I opted for the new Michelin Defender this time around. So far I've only clocked 100 miles on the new tires, but they are silky smooth, quiet, and handle just as well as the older Hydroedge. I'm sure they will last 100K too...just as my old Hydroedge's did.

In my opinion, you can't buy a better tire than Michelins (i've tried a lot). They are pricy to buy up front, but the qualify and life is second to none.

As for struts, I had replaced the struts with they Hydroedges and 100K later, replaced them again with these new tires. I again went with the KYB GR2, which has been a nice strut for me.

Outstanding!! 100k on tires is very impressive in deed. Thanks for sharing the feedback.

My monte has kumho esta tires. I like the ride and handling but I can't say much on the longevity. I doubt I'll see 100k on them.

Thanks for sharing Mike, that's some mileage. I'm on Michelins too. 15 months and I'm only at roughly 4,500 miles on them now so I have yet to rotate them and the tread surface on the rears hardly looks like it's touched ground. They're super quiet which is the first thing I really noticed.

Matt what tires did you go with for the SS? Im gonna be in the market for some new tires and I prefer thick ones so I can get best MPG out of them.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport - these are a summer tire so if you're looking for an all-season I was also recommended to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 as an option which is suppose to be another nice tire. At the time, the A/S 3 wasn't available yet so I decided on the Super Sport which is what I was leaning toward anyway. The Cruze is due for some new tires soon and I'm going to consider the A/S 3 for it.
