hi im into this FE4 BS a week into it because i tried to put 2004 17" dale earnhart tires P235 55R17s on my 2002 monte LS 16" tires they rub the bottom of my rear struts..ive been up & down the internet on this ..FE1,FE2 usually 3.4,3.5 MOTORS --16" tires & rims..FE2 DEPENDING ON YEAR CAN BE 17" TIRE 3.9 MOTOR tire size 225-55r17...FE3,FE4 3.8 SUPERCHARGED 3.8-2004-05..5.3 MOTOR...MONTE SS.. IMPALA SS..17" & 18" tires & rims....i think pontiac grand prix got the FE3 p225-55r17...FE4 in the monte FE3 in IMPALA ..monte got a little bit more than the impala ..bigger & hollow front & rear sway bars,bigger pistons in calipers, stiffer springs ..trailing arms/links-- solid --not u shaped stamped metal.....GM stated--- refinements to rear trailing links & rear strut mounts...cars were lowered 10 mm all this for better handling because of more powerful motors 5.3 etc..also MORAD on EBAY mentions that the rack & pinion is different...in conclusion "REFINEMENTS to the rear strut mounts" bothers me im hopeing to get FE4 struts & hopeing the BOTTOM of said struts sits an inch higher to accomodate 17" & 18" tires and not an actual hole placement on the knuckle holding the strut issue....plain jane 2002 LS vs. 2004 SS...anybody still have any rear FE4 struts for sale im looking to buy..hope this info clears up some of the confusion
