Default Struts?

I doubt this would specifically be for a Monte Carlo so much as a car in general and I'm not sure if it's in relation to suspension or not. But I just got my car yesterday and when I drive it down the street it makes a squeaking noise. As if something is loose. From the naked eye, I can't really see anything loose. I asked the seller what it was, and he said it was the struts according to some advice he had heard but he's not much of a car person either. He had it for about a year running like that. He said it doesn't effect the performance. Is this something that is an easy fix and I should look into?

I would be 100% certain before I went and changed my struts out if I were you. It's not too big of a deal, but it could be a waste of money if that isn't the issue.

My fusion had an annoying squeak when going over speed bumps and such. I read some forums and they agreed it was the non-greesable ball joints and recommended using a needle point tip to grease them anyhow. pepboys did it for me and the squeak went away. so, definitely have someone check it out before changing struts or something else.
