Yeah, there is a member of MCF who is not active anymore that claims to have done it, but won't share any pics or information about it (resulted in a nasty string of messages in a thread I would much rather not relive).
Bottom line, if you are good at thinking out of the box doing some custom fabrication, have both the time and the money, just about anything is possible.
The video shared proves it has been done.

Oh okay I LOVE The rear wheel drives But Where I live at I need a 4x4 But the thing is I can't afford the gas in a 4x4 With either a SB OR BB So I need something fuel efficient I DID Have a 87 Ford Ranger 4x4 But I tore up the Transmission And Transfer Case out 4Wheeling in some mud holes Got stuck And over heated the transmission Now back to topic I've been looking at Monte Carlo's for a while now I have the time But NOT The money to build a Rear Wheel Drive Monte Carlo I would REALLY LOVE To build one But with my Automotive Skills On Suspensions Is low So I'm thinking of going back to skool for Automotive Since My skills are still in the 1970's Early 1980's With Carburetors NOT Fuel Injection Systems So I need to update my Automotive Skills to the NEW AND IMPROVED Model Cars From 1990 to 2014 I LOVE Working on cars But I'm NOT That Automotive Skilled in anything else

If you have enough skill and knowledge anything is possible. I would think building some type of tube chassis and driveline would be a good starting point then adding the body to that. Kinda like putting a 50's body on a newer frame.

GM had a 5th gen Monte concept car (the one I've seen was green) and under the hood, it looked like it used some 4th gen F-body materials.
Not sure if that's the same thing you saw around 200-ish time frame.

I know GM had a RWD concept 5th gen Monte (I believe it was green). Under the hood, looks like they borrowed the under body of a 4th gen F-body.
