How 235/50/18 rubs on a 6th Gen
All of the time people ask if they can take the 18s off of a 2006 or 2007 Monte Carlo SS and put them on their car.
Constantly we mention that you can, but you can't use the stock 235/50/18 size and need to switch down to a 245/45/18. This weekend when I was winterizing my car, I threw old 235/50/18s from an 06 on my car just to show how bad the rubbing was.
Here's the pictures of the rear:


And this is with an empty trunk. I couldn't even back the car up without a terrible sound.

Wow, I never noticed such a huge difference in wheel wells. I suppose thats why most people with 7th gens will quickly toss rims on with no problem, much bigger wheel well. If 18s rub, I know if I would have put 20s on my old 6th gen, I would have needed a lift right? Or a rubber thin tire..

Great job grabbing some pics!! I believe some people in the past challenged the answer about those tires not fitting. There is the proof.
