Just my opinion, but I'd get the best tire for the money. IMO very few Monte Carlos look good with yellow letter tires unless you're going after the NASCAR look and have all the other add-ons to compliment the look. Other than that they just look out of place to me. Like I said, just my opinion. Ultimately you need to get what you like and will be happy with.

Interestingly enough, for trucks Goodyear seems to have better tires. I'm fixin to get new tires for my Burb and after asking a lot of people on the Chevy truck forum that I'm on, the general consensus was the Goodyear SilentArmor. Yeah, they aren't cheap, but considering my truck will be my primary vehicle in an emergency response situation (there's a reason I have emergency tags on the truck), I'm willing to pay a little more for a tire that I can rely on.

I don't know about car tires though. Only car tires I've bought in the last two years are for the Camaro and I only had 3 to choose from grrr

Eagle GTs lasted my parents 10,000 miles, not even a year and they failed PA inspection.

I had some Dunlops blah blah 245/45 18 on my Cav way back when though they only lasted for a few years. I paid closer to 200 a tire.
Here is what they have now that is similar in design

That's crazy, I remember that. I only drove my car 12,000 miles but that was all with the GT's and I didn't beat on the car by any stretch, but i drove aggressively.

30,000 i can see that for soft tires, but 10,000 I feel like you got a defect...what was the warranty on them? did you get money back?

All that the tire company could do was "pro-rate" a set for my parents, they still would have had to pay a good amount and my Dad didn't want to chance spending that money AGAIN and only get another 10k and another prorated set.

He took the almost $100 they wanted per tire and got a different set.

I got Nitto NT555's with my new rims, totally happy with them, they have waayyy better grip than the stock goodyears do. Don't have a ton of miles on them yet, but they seem to be wearing quite well so far.

Decent sized letters if you would want to paint them, probably not quite as big as the goodyear ones though.

Personally, I think Goodyears are junk. I replaced mine with a set of Dunlops and so far they have been great. Good overall handling for a good price, at almost 20,000 miles and going strong.
