Default Goodyear or no goodyear żżż

Facing a dilemma, and need some opinions. I'm just over 50,000 on the monte and the original tires are SHOT! While generally i'd stay away from goodyears (since good reviews are hard to find), i can't say i've had too bad of luck with the RS-A's that came stock. Thing is, I really like having the yellow letters on the tires, but can't bring myself to highlight anything other than Goodyear. So, do i just get the eagles again ($199 a tire) or do i get something different that'll probably be cheaper and handle a little better? Here's some pictures to give you an idea of what i'm talking about. . . .

So basically what it comes down to is. . . .worth paying more for yellow letters, or not?

Personally I don't see the added expense of Goodyears. Didn't really care much for the RS-As that were on my 95 Z34 or the ones on the 08 Impala SS. Seemed to wear very quickly and the ones on the Z34 seemed to hydroplane rather easily. About a year ago I put some Nitto NT850s on the Impala. I really like those (cost me $117 through work, (only availalble through ATD)) They have a lot more tread on them and have handled everything I've thrown at them since I got them. Always liked BFG tires as well myself, not sure what is out the for the Monte. Just my 2 cents.

Guess for you it comes down to if you want the yellow letters saying Goodyear and you are happy with the performance and price... go for it. Good luck and happy shopping

In my opinion the RSAs are a piece of crap tire for how much they cost.

I would get the best tire for the most reasonable price. I wouldn't worry about the name on the side as much as the performance of the tire.

Yokohama makes a good tire at a good price. despite the name they are US made. All I ever bought scince I got my first car at 13. Had a set for 50k miles on my 94 lumina and they still had some tread. Replaced them cus they were 4 years old. They come with a 30k mile warranty and have awesome ratings. I paid 115 a tire here recently but they were 225 45 r15 something like that it was a wierd size.

I would say it comes down to how you like the tires and what your willing to spend for new ones, I'm the best tire for the price type of guy !

Jester you are going through the same issue I was. I don't really care if it says Goodyear or not. I looked for weeks for an 18 tire that had a reasonably sized letter. Settled on the Generals from Walmart for $400.
The Falken Ziex 512 is what is on my stockers and there is very little to no letters to paint. I tried and it looked stupid
A tire I really wanted was the GoodYear Integrity. Super big letters but don't think they came in 18"s.
So if the Goodyear name s what you are after, Go Goodyear, if not shop around, But i wouldn't commit until you actually see the lettering. I searched Ebays used ones so I could see the lettering, then bought new.
By the way, did you ever get the paint I sent you? Never heard..

I think the eagles are way overpriced, but I have no complaints from them. I picked up a used set on craigslist for $100 for my 18's. I would get whatever is cheapest/best at the time and you can easily get.
