Default 16" to 18" wheel on a 2001 LS

Good day.

I'm trying to find specific data for changing my stock wheels to a 18" wheel. Tire rack has going from a 225/60-16 to a 245/45-18 set up with +35 offset. They say it will fit and not rub, guaranteed. Anyone done this before? How much of a difference in ride quality will I sacrifice doing this? How far out do the tires stick compared to the stock tires? I don't want to chip up all the paint on the side. Trying to find something i like to get rid of the 16" LS wheels, haven't found much in a 16" wheel i like.

It's hard to quantify, but it will be worse. Everyone has different levels of sensitivity to NVH, but you're losing nearly 20% of the meat between the rim and road that is currently air + flexible sidewall. It's not race car harsh though as you've still got a few inches of sidewall left- certainly much smoother than a 20" would be with rubber band tires.

I can't help there as I don't know offsets for stock 6th gen wheels. Lots of people run 245s without issue though, myself included on a 5th gen. If you're very worried about it though, you can always keep the width the same and go with a 225 45 or 225 50 but each of those yields a +/- 1/2" overall height whereas the 245 is an almost perfect height match.

That's the hard part as aftermarket wheels for larger cars like these have moved up in diameter significantly. Seems like most of the smaller diameter stuff these days is drilled for smaller cars (Miata, etc). If you really like 16s, perhaps you could find a wheel shop that buys blanks and drills them in house. I had a good friend back in college that used to do that for specialty applications.
