okay so ive been wanting to race a cavalier for awhile because my brother in law had one but we never got to race because by the time i got my monte carlo he had totaled his cavalier well a few days ago i got to race one ... a co-worker of mine has a yellow cavalier so id asked him if he wanted to race he accepted. so we lined up our cars at a red light and went on green. ive got the 3.8L V6 he had a 2.0L or 2.2L V4 i cant remember lol but i knew his car was way lighter than mine so engine size wouldnt make a difference .... but as the light turned green i had my monte in 3rd gear his was standard i got a little wheel spin as usual but i was surprised when i was in front i had the lead all the way about a half of a car length we race about 1/4mile drag race... he couldnt believe it so we raced a second time on this run he got a split sec start before me and was leading by inches but then he missed 3rd haha and i left him lol then he had to slow down and i cut in front of him cause of the oncoming car haha ... but i won both times and im proud of my monte now i really wish i had that supercharged eninge they have for it but that my story of Monte Carlo SS vs Cavalier.

 

Street racing is bad. Congrats and go beat up on some Toyotas now...

Congrats on the win, just be careful about where your racing. When on a public road way, it's easy for another car or pedestrian to just show up sometimes or a car do something no one planned for....

 

I can't see a cav keeping up anyway...

 

Yeah my friend had an s10 and I had my lumina. The s10 had the same engine as the cav and I killed him with that car. The lumina had the 3.1.

 

Careful with some of those cavi's They can be made to go pretty good

Yeah I can't see a Cavalier being much competition either. LOL

I raced my buddies '13 Hyundai Veloster Turbo a few weeks back with my '01 SS. I hung with him up until I governed out at 115 and he walked away from me at 120+. Disappointing but oh well and NO I won't be removing the governor LOL that will only get me into trouble.
