Embarrassing Loss, couldn't hook up

with your mods you should easily pull away from the cougar if he's stock like you said. did you turn off the traction control btw? i don't know how good was your launch, but if you just stomp on the gas you will spin. fwd will spin easy if you not good at launching

you should have easily put a beating on the car on a regular tire. the cougar and tbirds in those years weighed a million pounds. so worry not about the loss. and the 4.6 is a total pig anyway you look at it except for the 4v motors. ive driven several and beaten several. i think the mustangs look nice and the interiors are nice but thats the end of it. the 4.6 doesnt come alive till higher rpms and the powerband is tiny, and it produces no torque whatsoever you cant launch the car hard enough to actually use what little power it makes. the 3v is better but not good and then again it only took them 15yrs of playing with the 2v to move on. i personally think that the gt should come with the 4.6 4v and the cobras should get the 4.6 av with the blower. they do respond well to mods though. and a 2v with gearing and a converter and some other bolt ons is a worthy opponent. heres a video of a 4.6 2v with headers, gears, clutch, intake and heads vs a ls4 monte with an intake and exhaust.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Opinion is fine, but this just isn't true. 99-04 GTs launch awesome- they've got great suspension for drag racing, the SOHC 4.6 makes plenty of torque in the low and mid range, and in the 99-04s it's geared perfectly. It makes 300lb/ft of torque at 4000 RPMs, has 3.27s in the back, a solid rear axle, and a suspension geometry that lets it launch like a champ. Their holeshot abilities let them jump out in front of cars that are alot faster (which eventually pass them) in the 1/4 mile. I've seen it a million times.
