you not gonna mess up. just get a dremel tool and polishing kit. it's pretty cheap at walmart. all you do is rub the polishing compound on the mount surface and work that dremel until you see shiney chrome finish. after that finish it off with wax paste. if you can detail car i'm sure this is a piece of cake for you.
