Default Engine Mounts and Transmission Mounts

Can use some insight. So I have a 2006 Monte Carlos SS with about 119,100 miles on it. Last week I notice that it was making a noise, almost if the engine was jerking when I would accelerate. So I took it to the body shop and they inform me that I need about $1500 worth of repairs. They say I need new engine mounts (from and rear), transmission mounts, and the front torque mount and bracket. I said that ill let them know. So i go home and replace the front torque mount and bracket myself. As soon this was done, the jerking and noise of the engine stop. Any helpful insight would help, but my questions is How long should I wait to have the engine mounts and transmission mounts replaced?

If you know they are bad, replace them as soon as possible. Why wait? Other than you don't have the $$$. You don't want to step on the gas one day and watch as your engine does a summer salt. (Exaggeration) But you get my point!
