Hi Maniac, okay that is more accurate information. As Matt actually trimmed my HV2 unit for the L36 to make it fit in the L26 UIM and it did work. We did a dyno pull with the OEM L26 insert, removed it and installed the trimmed HV2 for another dyno pull. It showed we gained 15whp using the HV2. So we ended up buying the correct L26 HV3 , installed it, did a dyno pull and to Matt's surprise just like ZZp said we gained on the lower end too.

I never experienced any fitment issue with the HV2 and Dorman L36 UIM combination. I'm actually going to sell me HV2, and just today asked Matt if the knocking back the corners would render the HV2 inoperable if someone bought it and reinstalled it in the L36 UIM. He emphatically said NO, it will work just fine. And so with that, I trust him to know what he is doing and will sell it with a money back guarantee.

Hey bud, here is the info on the HV inserts. You can read more about them here... I'm going to sell mine and if you want the Dorman UIM from me the insert would be a good addition. You will get at least 15 more wheel horse power from adding it. Thats cheap horsepower, one can spend a few hundred on engine mods to get 15 more horse power.

Was there really no fitment issues? Everywhere that I read said that the HV3 needed to be trimmed and cut just to fit in the Dorman UIM. And most were wary about cutting $150 part just to see.

If that information is wrong, thanks I will remember that from now on

Hi Mike, my Dorman used the earlier released HV2 insert with no problem. And again I'm assuming it's an HV2 as I bought it about 5 years ago and have no way of really knowing if its a 2 or 3. Having looked over ZZP's site it's hard to determine any physical difference between mine and the one they have pictured for the HV3. And my receipt is long gone or buried a box of papers. But one did fit wihout the need to modify it for sure. And I see what your saying on the cost as the HV3's are now $199, oucher for sure...

I believe the HV2 had the little pieces of plastic connecting the sections. Now ZZP chopped those off and just run the HV3 without them. They used to bend and warp and cause some leaks.

Maybe your shop chopped all of that off?

If you can sell the insert with the UIM as a bundle that already fits together, someone should pick it up

Okay that helps clarify things. This older one does have a thin perimeter of a plastic about 1/8 thick by about 1/2" wide. So now I know how to spot a difference in HV inserts. LOL, you know so much. I had ZZp send the new HV3 for the L26 directly to Matt and never actually saw it. Thanks much Mike...

I had the L36 and L26 HV3's side by side once. They are almost identical, changes are so minor. ZZP I think color coded the two for their own benefit.

I thought I read that the HV2 was not as thick as an HV3.... But don't quote me....
