Default Trim Removal on a '78

I'm not a huge fan of the chrome strip down the side and up and over the wheel wells on my '78 MC. I was at first gonna paint them but I've seen a few of them without it whatsover. I'm curious if anyones done this and knows how simple or difficult the removal of them is? I don't want to remove them and find a mess of some sort underneath them.

Thanks guys.

the 78 has the skinny trim so im not sure. the 80 had the wider trim i want to say they had plastic clips and a couple of these little metal posts that had to be grinded down. hope that answer helped. i took the chrome stuff off around ten years ago. if you do take it off and its in good shape keep it or sell it. dont just throw it out its hard to come by.

Yeah I pulled the door piece off and it has what you were describing, some clips and some metal posts, the wells are screwed in, I eventually will take it off when I have time to do all the body work in the future. But thanks for any info, and I definately will try to sell the good pieces if I do ever remove them. Thanks again.
