I know my state says it is illegal for all windows to have tint, but I have mine in just the rear windows and it is 20% cops haven't bothered me about it. I know if I do the front then they will have a problem with it. I wish I could at least do like 50% on it.

If you look at my pics...
The side windows are 35%... almost see thru...
50% is like doing a factory tint... which isn't much... IMO it will make your windows look grey... Not really worth it in my opinion...

I would go 35% on the driver passenger side windows... and 20% on the rears.... What will also add some "Darkness" would be to add an eyebrow across the top of the front windshield..

PD has no real way to tell if your running 35% or 50% IMO

I believe there requirement is....
As long as they can see you through the tint you should be good.
Meaning seeing a figure in the window (almost like a shadow of you)

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help. I think I have a better understanding of what I want to do now. Thanks for all the pics too. Especially you Blazed. I was a little worried when I looked at the first pic you posted of your windshield. I saw all those bubbles and crinkles and thought "my God, a monkey could do better". Then, I saw the finished product and it looks outstanding. Thanks again!

I had 5's on my old car as well as 20% on the windshield ...

I missed a curb one time and drove over my new residence's entire lawn in the entrence .... but lol it did look great.

I suggest not going lower than 50% on the front windshield ...

I stopped by the tint shop yesterday. He showed me a few cars that were done either in 20% on the side and back windows and one that was only 35%. I think I'm going to go for the 20% with nothing on the windshield. He highly encouraged me not to do the windshield. He said he's heard of quite a few people getting busted for that. 20% isn't legal either but he said the only time he has heard of anyone getting busted for that is if there was another infraction.

My last MC was a '97 LS. The guy I bought it from had the windows tinted already. From looking at the pics on here, I'd say they were 20%. I was never for busted it or even asked about it. Looking around at cars I see I around here, I see quite a few cars that have what I'm pretty sure are 20% (or darker). My son has also had 20% all the way around on his Impala SS and never had any trouble. He had 35% on his windshield too.

Did you guys do this yourself or have it done? He wants $149 for 20% on all windows except for the windshield. Looks like I can get the pre-cut stuff for $24 on fleabay. If you did it yourself, was it difficult?

Tinting the windshield seems like crazy stuff! I agree it looks good enough. I find it ironic that the big fad is installing HID's to improve visability, while others are tinting their windshields. The only reason I'd want to tint my windshield is because of HID's.

Tint is easy to install. Doing a good job of installing it is another question. Bubbles and how well it will hold up can not be predicted for a first time installer. One time I installed tint beautifully on 4 windows of a car, only to botch the 5th window and I lost my <expletive> so bad I just ripped the crap off all the windows and never tried again.

A shotty windshield tint job raises a whole other potential issue

You can't have tints on the front windows here .... I have 10's all around.

Easy for you to say !!!

I remember I made a self-tint attempt in 2006 ,

I wound up getting so pissed I broke the door handle on the car it wound up costing +$40 to fix my "attempt" and $100 for a new handle.

Save yourself the headache unless you've had experience tinting , you should be able to get a nice tint job for about $100.

Especially when they sometimes are one and the same.

Before tinting your windshield I'd check your state and local ordinances. Many states outlaw tinted windshields. It would be a shame to go through all the time and money installing it only to turn around and tear it off...and have to pay a citation.
