I've always said if I have to replace the Dale Jr stripes on my car, I'd have them painted on. The vinyl is expensive and doesn't hold up like a painted on stripe does.

I guess since your stripes are GM they would be very expensive to replace. If you get into an accident and have to replace them, in general, vinyl is less expensive than getting a whole panel painted. And there are products on the market to protect vinyl graphics.

I'm having a hard time figuring out, the cause of this vinyl damage, can't believe it was just from the sun. Seems like a poor quality vinyl or car sitting in the elements. I have installed vinyl decals on many of my rides and customers too, have yet to see this kind of damage. My 69 superbee has a bumble stripe that is 17yrs old installed by myself and it's still perfect, no cracks or any stain/damage. It was 3m material.
