realisticly the ss is onlt pushish 180hp from the factory get yourself a 350 a good set of heads, intake, carb, cam, maybe ever build a stroker and you'll have pleany of power at your toes goin a to abig block doesn't mean your going to have absolute raw power will deffinaitlty bost your hp number and tourq but your also adding alot of extra weight to the mix which means upgrading your suspention to handle i which = more $

if you look for a 350 look for the casting # ending in 010 they are the good blocks to bore and stroke as i do belive they have a hight nickle content,

true, i hadnt considered the weight being an issue, but you're right. see, im tryin to get about 500hp. and i want to have my top end around 150mph, but keep my acceleration too. and [if it matters] its an automatic, with a 700R tranny.

either a stroker 350 such as a 383 or mayber even like a destroked 400 or built 400 g/f's dad has a sbc400 destroked to a 377 with brodex heads, intake not sure of cam and whatnot but hit 480hp on the dyno but thats with race gas,

hitting the 500hp mark on pump gas will be a hard target, maybe you should think of a ls conversion those can lay down the power quick
