Greg. Matt thinks my convertor locked up because once it got into 4th the problem went away. Pulled the pan and had some metal chucks in the pan. The 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift as well as the 3-4 shift all slammed and down shifting was even worse. Car is still on the rack at my friends shop waiting to pull. Said he should have it out and to Matt by month end. I spoke to Matt and for sure the converter will have to be rebuilt and I told that if there are any parts I can have made to bullet proof it I would like to do it. If you remember I made my 4th gear It was a 3 piece part and I had it machined all in one from the same material as the input shaft. 300M and dyna blued it afterwards. At my age this is no job for me. Not quite 95 yet got a few more years to go. I have attached more pix. Fuel tank relocation.
I won’t know exactly for sure what the exact issue is until Matt takes it apart. But I can tell you this if I can make something stronger I will besides what I already have 3000 miles is all I have on it on this trans and that is unacceptable. Sam

Hello Sam, I do remember there was extensive work, trial , error, custom one off parts built for your car during the dyno phases etc. Your converter if I'm remembering right was billetd by a shop in Phoenix. Will be interesting to see the cause of failure, some crazy stress point. That will be your key to building a more reliable setup. 3k miles, jheesh, money talks, in that I only got 2k on my last one. But then my failure was some off the wall issue from the GMPP part that had been in for 10 years, so it had been getting stressed out over time.
Love the fuel tank relocation area, will work well right there. An incredible amount of r&d, then back to D. You should have used your high up GM connections, took em out to a round of golf and persuade them to engineer your one off Monte. Dang this is a darn sweet car, truly quite incredible, hats off to you, much respect for your vision. I may actually dropping off my daughters truck there this week, will get a few shots and send to you. Last time I was in about a month back, things seemed a bit busy, so I just stayed back. And you are not no 95, what a joker...
Greg: Actually I am looking forward to you going out to see my car and critic it and take pictures of course; please post them here. . You are right my converter went to Hughes in Phoenix - my guess from what Matt thinks - that is part of the problem if not all of it. Sorry thing is - once that goes - other things fail as a result. With metal flying around inside the trans - that just does not bode well for the other parts - Greg, my connections at GM have pretty much dried up. You have to remember that the Performance division was shut down during the bankruptcy of '08 & '09 and the department went rogue, or a least my guys did while trying to keep things alive. And as time went on without the strong arm of GM - the department I was familiar with is all but gone. But believe me that connection taught me a lot and I carry that with me and bring it to light in this build working with Matt. But in all honesty I have pretty much given Matt a free hand in the build and I have to say - it is what it is because of Matt's genius. I sent Matt my new plate for the car and like the SSV plate I have on this one - this car's plate is SSV II - Did you know I am painting the car the same exact color as SSV - and at a glance they might even look the same - but close scrutiny will bring out the differences - especially when you see the small bump in the hood, LOL!!
Post some pictures and your thoughts once you see the car.
Sam
Greg: I have a shop here in town where I know the owner and I have had him talking to Matt already - he is going to pull the tranny with Matt's help via video conferencing if necessary and ship the trans out to Matt to rebuild. Here all this time I thought I was babying the car - guess not. SAM
Don't know who you use, but it is hard to beat ATI if they have the correct parts for your stuff.
I also have my 05 for sale. Make a great tow car at the races. Pony up $6500 and it's all yours~! You can be stylin....
