7th Gen ('06-'07): Rear Wheel Drive build thread, It is happening..
Drag racing rule of thumb. Take whatever budget and time factor you have and multiply by 3....lol.
Grayghost: I think that if someone is of a sound financial footing (a good money manager) - budgeting can be managed. Know what you want to do - put together a detailed plan or layout of expenses and it can be done with little deviation from a planned/forecasted budget.
Know what you need to procure - know your hours/labor costs - It's a project - it can be done. My first build SSV was below the expected build amount. - knowing that and having the experience of one build - cost projections for SSV2 was easy to figure out. Right now I am on target for parts and labor costs -
However - the time factor is another story - seeing you don't pay for time not working on the project - you don't have any way to control the lay-time, time not spent on working on the car. There's where your 3 TIMES factor may be right on or even on the the light side.

Grayghost: My thought is that we can both agree on is, no matter what this hobby/sport is, it is expensive no matter which way you look at it. In the Late '60's & Early '70's I raced a C/SM '69 Nova - and before that an altered (only because I had a big block chevy in an oldsmobile) 1966 442. And in those days I never had enough money - and I remember sleeping under my truck at Indy because I couldn't afford a hotel, or any other track in my tent because that is all I could afford - so yes, I know it takes a lot of money no matter how well you plan - there is never enough. I am fortunate enough now in my life - that with the experience I have with my first Monte build and all the others I have done - I can plan so as not to get caught short (hopefully). Thank you for your input - I really do appreciate it.
