Pix were of chute mounting. And tank drop. Weld clean up. Car goes back to Utah. August 11. No more pix from the fabricator. Future pix will come from the builder.

It's hard to see angles, especially without the chute mounted. I thought he was going to do a bracket on the license plate opening and mount it there. Sometimes you just have to wait to see it finished to know what it will really look like.

On a more fun note, I put a new radiator in the MC, and drove it home. The next morning a huge puddle of AF. Drove it back to the dealer, and thought something was left loose. Turns out the water pump bit the dust. I had just last week jokingly said that was the only part that had not been replaced on this car. Such is life. Better to happen here at home than 100 miles down the road on a cruise. This is a stock MC, and giving me more fits than a race car....kinda. Just paid $71 for the DSM box that goes under the passenger seat that turns the air bag light off. Got tired of seeing the dash with electrical tape on it. But it never fails, the one I have is only for my year car. Maybe someday it will be rare. Parts sure are.

Default Chute Mount

GrayGhost. The chute bracket assembly comes straight through the bumper where the plate goes you can even see where it disassembles when not in use And underneath will be welded right to the housing center. I thought the pictures were pretty good. Or am I missing something that you are asking me for. Unfortunately this is the last set of pix I will get. It’s going back to Utah now

I get where it goes, I see how it is being done. Without the back bumper on I could not tell exactly if that were the case. And without it mounted and the bracket welded onto the rear end for the loop, I cannot tell the angles of the lines in relation to the X on the wheelie bars. Remember, it is not a perfect world out there. You may be pulling that chute at 160 after you were crossed up and hit the wall. Your back wheels may be off the ground. As we talked about, a chute is not just for stopping, and you don't want to make matters worse by the chute picking the car up, etc. instead of getting it back straight and maybe down to earth. Don't have a pic of my 23T with my bars on, but they were long and low, and I had a large opening at the rear for the lines to go where they wanted and not get tangled up in the bars (had a tailgate net over the back of them so the pilot chute would not get tangled). My car had no suspension, so used very long bars that flexed. You just have to plan for worst case scenario. Send some pics when you get it all mounted and lined up and I am sure I will give you a thumbs up.

Who could have ever guessed it would be 4 or more years doing what you are doing, going where no one has gone before. Mine was in the shop for over 5 years, one could actually forget they even owned a Monte as long as these cars take to get back. I was just at Matts shop yesterday, he had my Monte for a couple days, complete brake fluid replacement (MOTUL 5.1) , AMSOIL 15w-50 oil change, Holley update etc. Talked a bit about your build, stinking COVID affecting supplies, medical issues, etc. etc. His truck and trailer have been out there this whole time waiting to bring your car back. Your car has had enormous efforts exerted towards it. Looks to be a typical Sam build, everything top notch. I have to hand it to you, it will be a marvel to behold, and a monster to drive. What is your whp goal 1800? So envious, that Monte is a show stopper, truly a one off build. My jaw drops when I look over all of your photos. The headers, suspension, cage, braking. I still have photos of your donor car stock, now look at it, all cut to hell, wow you a crazy one that's for sure. This build has some serious coin going into it. You going to let us in as to your paint scheme. Will this car have a VIN, and be street legal too? If yes, you are going to make a lot of people butt hurt, Hellcats, Super Snakes, Z71's, ha ha would love to see their faces.

GrayGhost, have seen you take your Monte from a so so car, pretty good overall to a glitzy newly painted beautiful Monte. Great color, probably one of the rarest. To funny about your water pump, love the only part you hadn't replaced yet comment. Had me chuckling, probably anyone here who reads that will chuckle, such money pits. But then again our cars are not so out there anymore, wonderful to see one get pulled in from the madness and be brought back inline. We get odd reviews at car shows, most people walk right on by, but then now and again there are the appreciative types who make it worth our while to have done what we did. You are the real deal, looked over your dragster pics, ***** of steel and a helmet. That is great to see Sam and you pass back and forth information, never such a thing as to much information. Something you mention may in fact cause the "Ah ha" moment that gets passed up hill and prevents a overlooked problem. That is cool of you to chip in your track knowledge, just hope you don't have brain fog your info has them put the back tires on the front etc. So you are 1951 eh, I'm 1956, ouch for us both, but we are still getting after it, right?

Anyway, best of luck Sam, truly hope you get this Super bad Monte back soon.

Most recent time at the road course track, Tooele, Utah

Cool down time.
That's a beauty. Very impressive. And to sum up, yeah, you never see them around here at car shows, etc. The very rare ones are kept in garages to keep miles off of them, and the rest have just been run into the ground, or eaten up with rust. Very disappointed you don't see more of them, but they are an in-between car......FWD that goes with the rice burners, and not considered true muscle like some of the older RWD cars. I am helping my stepson sell his Genesis, 2.0 Turbo with an 8 speed. I let it rip the other day and it broke the tires loose in first and second. Damn thing will fly. I was very impressed. Some of those V6 ones are making 350hp.

So anyway I had to join in with the add on boys, and bought a set of LEDs for the MC. Got one side done and everything worked fine. Then the other side would not lite up, and I am trying to diagnose all this. Swapping bulbs from one side to the other, and these damn things aren't even marked high and low beam except in the box they come in. So finally my wife comes out (who doesn't know any better) and turns the light around in the socket (these it seems will go either way, which I did not know). And voila! They lit up. So yeah, it hurts to have had a hand in building a car in my garage that ran 180 mph, and now I can't even put a frickin LED bulb in. I will be ready for a bib and cane soon. Maybe I can hot rod one of those electric scooters. Saw one on You tube that runs 60.....lol.

Greg: So nice to hear from you - really a pleasant surprise. You know your car is/has/was been the inspiration for my original build and always will. It is such a beauty - I still don't think there is anything I could do to make either of my cars to shine and be as impressive as yours. I truly believe my cars are the plain Janes of what we do, with your Monte the Princess to be extremely proud of. Nonetheless I do really appreciate all of your accolades - it's comforting to know what we do with our cars is appreciated in our small community. Our cars, in all respects, from those I have met, do not give our cars the respect they deserve, never! We continually have to prove ourselves - and of course as I have driven around town I have proved that several times to a few supposedly fast cars. You picked up on the banter between me and GrayGhost - have to say, I listen real closely and take in the help he has so graciously provided - I am sure some of his advice will save my butt down the road. I am glad you had a chance to see Matt and go over some of the aspects of my current build - have to say it has been challenging. Hopefully next time I get out to Sandy - I will call first and we can all get together and have some fun. Take care - and again thanks so much. Greg, almost forgot - I am painting this car exactly like the first one (this one will be a complete color change)- it will be a twin to the most unsuspecting (my plate on the first one is SSV and this one if available in Michigan will be plated SSV II). I mean there will be differences of course but from first glance those unfamiliar won't know the difference. And this car will be a street car and driven whenever possible. I have already lined up a trailer to take it to the track. Unlike my current car which I totally baby in most cases - for this one - there will be some breakage, LOL!!.

Yes Sir! You are both correct, well all 3 of us are. No respect, I had to laugh out loud Sam when you stated "We continually have to prove ourselves - and of course as I have driven around town I have proved that several times to a few supposedly fast cars". Gosh dang, I would die to see that. I bet you butt hurt a number of people, they have to be rubbing their eyes in disbelief as you pull hard on them. I know your car, but don't know your car. I watched it come together, break parts on dyno, have parts built one off, your billet torque converter etc. You have the King Monte who can push my Princess around every which way it can. Put a bit into my cars drive train etc. went in for the looks too. You play the sly dog and bait people in. They have to wonder if your bead locks are fake or are they the real deal, and therein lies the challenge to them, they just have to find out. The same color, that is actually pretty genius. One day you are rolling about in the King, someone throws down the gauntlet and you show up in the Kraken, hell on Earth. I visualize you being the cool calm collected operator the competitor sees. Inside you are "this boy is going down, he aint seen nothing, Im about to come unglued on you. All these years later its time to unleash the Kraken! Feel its fury and ah yes my vindication for dare dreaming and then acting on it!". Going to be so exhilarating bud, no way around that. Keep yourself fit, you are going to have a couple handfuls of unimaginable power to make do what you want it to. You need to GoPro these events and share them with us. SSV II indeed, indeed, worthy of being linked together. You will sure enough give them something to talk about, That was not your normal Monte Carlo, that guy had it turned all the way up to "Kill". You know you will get called out again, that guy will be like "I hope this goes better than the last time" Hey will be in touch , got to get off this and back on paperwork.

Gray Ghost, keep up the fight brother, way to represent. Love the fact you are upgrading the appearance with LEDs. Put you in the "Im in touch with the times" demeanor. Keeping it fresh is always fun, people will give you the thumbs up, wazzup amigo type of respect. It just figures one side did not work correctly. That's just the luck of the Monte Carlo, right. We just have to keep hitting at it and then one day its close to where we want it, and then stop. Let it be in its own, call it good. But then you being the obvious power junkie per your dragster pics, that may be hard for you to find that "It's good enough spot". We will all pray for you, lol.

Sam, Ghost man take care .

You will have to wait. That car won't make a full throttle pass until sometime in March or April.....just guessing.
