Default Questions on painting my Monte Carlo

Hey everyone so I just got my 2006 Monte Carlo SS about 2 months ago and it is amazing. But as I start to clean it and wax it and in general get closer to my car I noticed my front bumper Has a ton of litttle knicks out of the paint. But you can't notice it until you get right up on the bumper and look. It was also a northern car and Has a little bubbling where rust is starting to develope down around the fender wells. So I really want to get it painted but I want to go from the, I believe it is called, victory red to the laser blue. Does anyone know about how much something like that would cost? I'm 20 and this is only my second car so I have never run into anything like this where I basically love my car so much that I wanted to go through this. I more so want to get it done for the rust problem, I don't want a nice car like this to detererate. Does anyone also know that if I were to just go with the red, how much would it be to fix all the paint knick in the front as well as the rust, basically have a nice new fresh paint.

I have a pretty good idea for something like this check this website out and videos on youtube im planning to do it to my whole car it's pretty slick stuff, great thing about it is its not permanant unless you want it to be it can't ruin anything under and it looks pretty sharp and very inexpensive especially if you are doing trim, bumpers, rims, trims, emblems, you can do just about anything from your interior panel trim/dash to your exterior car and rims i am doing my whole car matte black the cost for all materials from plasti dip, spray gun, rags, prep, cleaner, reducer, every single item i need will run me $352 all from the website minus the face respirator like $20. Also the best part you can spray it anywhere your extension cord can reach, outside.. yep or in a well ventilated gargage, or space the, it originally was just a matte black application now they have several colors(matte) but also a gloss finish, to make them look like regular paint jobs there is something for everyone. The website is www.dipyourcar.com and just search youtube for plasti dip car, guys name is fonzi and application is called plasti dip. Good luck

O not only does this stuff look awesome it was originally created to protect paint jobs and specifically the front end and hood of cars from dirt, debis, rocks, bugs, ect so chippping will ot occur because that is definately a problem area for that, so i'd check it out.

And if you have any rust yet, im sure its surface, if your planning to plasti dip your car, i would not take it anywhere, id get a Dual Action sander or sand paper depending on severity about 1500 to 2000 grit sand paper maybe start with 2000 possibly 80 grit depending on what kind of chips you talking about and sand that rust right of
after that make sure its properly cleaned with grease and wax remover then if neccessary add a thn layer of bodyfiller(not too much) don't forget to mix the body filler properly. once that dries block it until even with the rest of the car around it then go with the plasti noone will ever know it there. Now i'd do that until i was able to either afford to repaint or have someone repaint your bumper but once you do get it painted i'd reapply the plasti for future protection

Plasti Dip is good, I was actually telling my friend to do it to her MX3 since it's a winter car and that she should just save her money for her GT-r in the summer. If you get bored of the colour just order new PD from the site. If you buy the Pro kit you'll be all set for new colours and save some money. It's a good investment.

It sounds really good. Can plasti dip be waxed and everything like normal paint?

no well fonzi and his creation team have not tested it yet, if you check out all his youtube videos you will see all the tests/trials he had done, fail and sucessful ones but from what i understand it is pretty easily cleaned with the specail cleaning rag and wash they have on their website, but i say if you have a need to wax it or when you wax and buff the rest of your car i would spray another clean touch up coat on the existing one, the only thing multiple coats will do is make is all easier to peel off when or if you are ready to.

It's a cool idea but I may just save up for a good paint job. I was never fond of the dull look. I like my car to shine.
