I'm pretty sure that's what is used to install it at the factory as well. The reason most install it this way and the factory as well, because during windshield or back glass replacement those rails need to be lifted sometimes to accommodate. If it's epoxied....good luck. Not only that but let me know how your paint feels after removal.

for most of them they weren't even taped, they were screwed from the inside.

but also, the double sided tape is too bulky and can sometimes make them look weird, his is a tutorial written up by a well respected member here and pretty good friend of mine.

To each is own I guess. I just know I'd never epoxy anything to my vehicle unless it was intended on being there permanently without the need for removal.

remove the stock rails and use two things of epoxy, use one thing of epoxy on each side and then place the rails in the grove applying pressure until the epoxy dries.

double sided tape brings the risk of them being able to get lose and just fly off whereas the epoxy will make a strong bond and you wont have to worry about it
I don't agree with any of this at all, as a paint/autobody tech. Pacer is right DO NOT use epoxy. Not what you want to use way over kill and not to mention if you need to remove the rails you wont be able to remove them with out grinding most of it out of the channel. This about it this way...Did you epoxy your SLP grille? The grille probably sees more wind and turbulance than the roof rails will ever see; being that they are stream line. Plus double sided tape by 3M has studies that there products can hold extremely well. This is the same thing that was used originally. Don't remember ever hearing anything about emblems flying off.

OP just use double sided tape it's cheaper, easier, cleaner to use. Plus I hope if you do use epoxy that you are aware that you are also expoxying both windshield/windshield moldings in.
