My bf works at a collision place and they said all GM vehicles have paint flaking problems. My 2001 just got a spot on the back quarter panel, it's usually not too pricey to get redone though if you find a good place to do it.

 

Thanks for the advice everyone. $1100 later it is fixed. Repainted the trouble spots and blended it out. Then re-cleared both panels. They did a pretty good job. No complaints here.

 

ya mine are rusting through, tried sanding the problem areas down to metal but found out it was all the way through so i gave up and just sprayed them with rust inhibitor
