Default The latest victim to the cheapo paint job.

Greetings MCF. Its been some time since I've been around here. If anybody remembers me I owned the 2001 SS Hi Sport. After I paid it off several years ago it sorta took a roll as a DD. Having been sitting on a body kit for some time and just receiving a replacement fender I felt it was probably time to fix the ol monte up. Not looking to spend a lot on a paint job I opted for the RUSTLOEUM roller paint job. after all was said and done I only spent about $120. Don't know why all the pictures insisted on being sideways but anyway here's how it progressed. Ill post a reply with the final set of pics.

Default Final Set of pics

That first set of pictures shows the begining to about coat number 4 lots of wetsanding in between coats. After 6 coats I attempted a clear coat but was very disappointed in the outcome so I experimented with sevral different clears. and finaly wound up with a bit of a satin finish which I don't mind because at night it turns a really deep black. so for $120 I'm satisfied with the final product! That last pic is a little blurry and doesn't do it justice.

Thanks all! I'm gonna attempt to bring a better shine out of the clear I put on. KCFITZ78 the clear coat was a battle for sure, my first attempt was done with several cans of the RUSTOLEUM spray on clear coat which came out awful! So I went out looking for a clear I could roll on which was tricky. One of the ones I tried was Duplicolor's Paint Shop Clear coat which looked pretty good at first but as I went it began to eat my roller up and blistered up the other clear I had put on the deck lid. so after sanding that down I went and looked for another clear I could try and rolled it on. It rolled on very easily and really gave the paint a deep black appearance. Also in the day the paint doesn't take on a dark grey coloration like some of the rustoleum black paintjobs sometimes do.
