Default Hood Protection

I have been looking for a hood protector for my 06 ss, I live in an area that has a lot of gravel roads so there is a lot of it flying around on the pavement as well. when i did my spring detail i had to touch up about 5 rock chips! Im trying to avoid this at the next wash...anyone know where i can pick one of these up? i just want the hood portion of a bra, or the hood protector, but everywhere I look online, does not seem to carry them...

I've seen other people use this before, not sure if it something you would consider doing though?

That invisible masking is OK stuff. Its the same material they use from the factory to protect areas susceptible to rock chips and other use damage. You see it alot on the dogleg in front of the rear wheels, on the bottom edge of bumper covers and on the top of bumper covers where cargo can scratch them while loading the trunk. They are just a thick plastic decal. The problem is they yellow over time, but they can be removed easily and replaced when they wear. They dont hurt the paint below either unless applied over a fresh paint job which isnt recommended if you plan on ever removing them.

Does the 06 + Impala have the same hood? You might want to look into that option.

Any bra is a detailing nightmare, especially if you travel on gravel roads. The sand will work its way under the bra, creating a sandpaper effect. Then insted of 5 chips you may need to repaint your hood where the bra was.

This can be prevented if you take off the bra and wipe it down every night. Then check the surface for scratches and buff out if needed.
