Default HID kits

Ive gotten as far as wanting 55W 6k HID lights for my headlights obviously anyone feel like helping me through this I am ordering them through ddmtuning.com. Feel like an idiot but I'm confused on what to select for the bulb type, HID harness, error eliminator, and adaptor cables. Help would be appreciated idw to order this stuff and end up having messed everything up in the process. lol

Don't feel like an idiot, everyone has the same questions when first getting into HIDs.
The type of bulb is the color.

If you're going with the 55W it will be a different color from what you see on the chart. You're better off going with 35W unless you're looking for pure white light (Even if you use 6K on a 35W it'll be pure white)

This will tell you what size bulb you need: OSRAM SYLVANIA - Replacement Guide - Start

As for harness there is the slim and the normal. No difference in the two except one is a bit beefier than the other. I bought slim so that I could find a place to mount them easier.
Slim
Regular
You don't need an error eliminator and it comes with all of the cables you need.

Hope this all helps!
We need an HID guide stickied!

the ddm 6k arent really pure white. they have a blueish tint to them. im running them now and have always hated them. i put ddm 5k or 4500 in my gfs, and those are white. thats going to be my next move. i think the 6k looks cheap. oh, and dont get the 55w theyre overkill. 35w is plenty bright.

ddmtuning for the win- I've got 55w 8k's on my GXP; and just got done helping my buddy do 35W 6k's in his GTP.

I'll definitely agree with the above though- just go with the 35w. You can't really compare light output based off wattage numbers since the HID's are brighter per watt- and 55 is really causing a lot of extra glare for other drivers unless you've got projectors with a good top cutoff. Sure they're even brighter, but even the 35w's are better than stock bulbs (unless you go with some extreme color).

We can't really tell you what color to go for though, that's a personal decision. The colors seem more apparent with the 35w kits though (the 55w kinda washes out the color with more white IMO)- so if you're not wanting to deal with getting pulled over, I'd stick around 6k's plus or minus 1 step. IMO 3k, 10k, 12k, etc are too off in color unless its just a show only car.

is there much of a difference installing HID's from vehicle to vehicle? I've checked out the "how to" thread and it doesn't seem vehicle specific. My fiance's 02 cougar has the absolute worst headlights i've seen and since we've got a set for sale in the classified section i may pick em up if they'll work for her car.

The ones on ddmtuning are plug in and go, hardest part about the install is finding a place to mount the ballasts.

If you put HIDs in, wouldn't you have to disable the day lamps?
