Default HID Headlamps Conversion Kits

2003 Monte SS High Sport. I installed a Xenpro HID plug n play kit on my car and the results were impressive. I went with a 6000k 35w kit for low beams only. I am currently waiting for a kit to convert the fog lights over too.

My question is since installing this kit i notice the volt meter in my car is reading higher then normal. Normal conditions the needle always sat at the center line or one line more towards positive side. Now at night when the HIDs are on, the gauge sits at two spaces towards the positive side. Does this mean the HIDs are drawing more current and the alternator is trying to compensate? Or does it mean i have extra unused current since the HIDs are supposed to draw less wattage? I will take pictures today at no load and full load conditions and post them later.
