Default HID Kits Low Beam

As you know the head lights has the rubber boot covering the Low and High Beams bulbs.

I just ordered a HID Kit for the Low beam, Will I still be able to use the Rubber Boot to cover it with out modifying the boot for the Bulbs wires to come out.

I picked up 55w Xenon 9006 Kit that will get its power from the Plug that powers the 9006 bulb in there now.

Anyone have problems with installations or was it just straight forward, swapping bulbs out, runnign wires and mounting ballasts.

And would anyone recommend a kit for the High beam or leave them halogen

You will need to modify the boot. I would NOT power those lights through the factory wiring. Get a power harness and wire them to the battery. If you don't you will fry the factory wiring harness. I run 35w HIDs and the wires get warm with those. A harness is in my near future.

Yes, you will have to modify the boot. I did it very successfully by using a blade and cutting an X shape and then cutting a circle out ofthe center of that shape. I pulled the wires through the grommet and it sealed itself with the rubber stopper included around the new wires. And I would highly recommend a harness because the HIDs will eventually fry the factory over a period of a few years or even sooner. I don't have one now, but I might grab one soon as Mike explained.

If i get a harness will i need to install a toggle switch, or will the factory plug run directly into the harness, then into the ballast

If i changed the balasts to 35watt will a harness be needed?

Reason i ask is the stock relay harness in the monte Carlos are adequate to run 35watts as it is. My headlights in there now are are sylvania at 55watts that bought from autozone for $14 a bulb

It's not so much the wattage of the bulbs, but the amperage draw they demand. As it is now my factory wiring gets warm running 35 watt HIDs. That's why I am going over to a harness. You won't need a toggle switch. Power for the ballasts is sourced directly from the battery through a fused wire that goes to a relay. From the relay the wiring goes to each ballast. The relay is triggered (turned on/off) with power from one of the original bulb sockets when you turn the headlight switch on/off. That way there is no additional amperage draw on the original wiring so it won't overheat.

Ill just not even bother with the kit and resell it. Not going to start doing more modifications just to avoid harming factory harness, which in result could still get fried if the AMPs draw is higher then the harness can handle.

Ill stick with my stock bulbs

Lol the harness will absolutely prevent frying. It will handle it. The kit could work now fine, and nothing should get hurt anytime soon.

The whole idea of powering the HIDs directly from the battery is to eliminate the additional amperage draw on the factory harness. The only thing that will be drawing power on the factory harness is the switching circuit of the relay, and it will be drawing less amperage compared to the original halogen bulb. The higher amperage draw will be passing through the relay on a different circuit directly from the battery to the ballasts. Hooking your HIDs up this way will insure that your factory harness doesn't get damaged.
