Default Cleaning engine bay

Does anyone know what will remove rustcoating the spray on oily kind from the factory, that gets kinda gummy?? I removed a lot from the rad saddle area and striker area for the hood closure, with elbow grease lol...and a rag.
But I would like to tidy the underhood area up over the winter,

Gas has been suggested,,but not a good idea for me..propane heat in my garage and all..any suggestions on what has worked for you guys??

Thanks

Simple Green worked great for me. I got a few spray bottles of it, covered up a few areas in the engine bay, hosed it down with some water, then I started spraying the Simple Green and tried to keep to worst areas wet for about 10-15 minutes, then I rinsed it and found that most had come off just from that. I went back and scrubbed some of the tough areas that didn't clean up easily. I have a 6th Generation so I'm not sure if has the rustcoating stuff you were talking about, my guess is probably not, either way it's a good product to start with. I'd recommend a well ventilated area though

I use the LA Awesome orange from the dollar store for under the hood clean up. If you have some really dirty or grime areas the engine bright spray cleaner might work for you.
