When your car is in the body shop after 30 days can they take it?

read the small print on paperwork. I know for a fact you can be charged storage. If you dont pay and they have the car they can hold it until payment has been made. But i dont think they can take it after 30 days. Get ahold of your local police and have them go in with you. they should be more than happy to assist.

If it's not in a contract, in law everything is basically 'after a reasonable amount of time', at 30 days your fine, but if you want to keep your car, you should go get it soon.

X2.. I'd go crazy if mine was at a shop for that long If it's done and ready to drive I would go get it ASAP, but if they haven't fixed it in 30 days, I'd take it somewhere else.

Repair businesses in my area must send a certified letter then wait 60 days before they can "repo" or discard of the product being repaired (of course assuming the work is completed and you haven't paid for it)

Correct! That's called a Mechanic's Lien.

In michigan...all they have to do is put a mechanics lein on it....and if you dont respond,pay for it...its theres!
