Winter StormH

It's coming down here in Oklahoma! Nothing but ice, lighting and thunder. Thundersnow! it's too late for me to salt the driveway and sidewalk, but can that be done prior to the storm? I honestly can't remember, lol, those last ten years in Puerto Rico made me forget the winter nightmares while I lived in the states prior to.

It cant hurt to put some down before hand. What do you think the road crews do? It will slow the forming of ice. Probably with this storm not very much but it cant hurt anything.

A lot of people claim the use of road salt pollutes the eco system. Not sure how much I believe that. But I can see why they would say that.
The city of Windsor gave into the environmentalists a few years ago and tried replacing road salt with sand/salt mixture. They found that the sand was creating a big mess, clogging up the sewer system, and not doing much to help road safety. They went back to just plain road salt last year.

I think up where teacher Todd and Keith are form they also use just sand? And I've heard from other people in Canada where they just use sand? Never heard of that around here, that's why there aren't to many older cars without bondo on them....... I think Pennsylvania is "the bondo capital of the USA"!

sorry to get off the storm topic, but I also heard a few people from Canada who plug their cars in........ never heard of that until I joined here.

I'm curious about JuniorCar's area though. He's two hours north east of me in London, Ontario. It's possible more people use them there. Other places like Ottawa and Montreal definitely need to use them.

Snow days or not! If its that bad out. STAY HOME! What are you going to prove by showing up. Ohh yeah. I know. You worked that day to pay for your deductible on your car insurance. Why take the chance. It could cost you more to go to work. IF you make it. And you just might. But whats the chance of you sliding into someone. Or them into you. Think about it. Is it worth it...
