When I chose "networking", I was more in tune with the server side, what you consider "administration", setting up servers and the systems that run on them (such as Citrix, IIS, WSUS, VMWare and a host of other existing and new technologies, not to mention planning the server infrastructure and farms). I suppose I'm more interested in the server side engineering more then server side support.

As you said, you got a time ahead of you to hone in on more of what you want. Again, I.T. is a HUGE expanse! I worked for a large company that had TONS of I.T. workers and due to the size had to silo people by skills, now I work in a company that employees less people and an I.T. works has to wear a LOT of hats (and it helps me enjoy my job better that way).
Huge expanse indeed, have to see where i end up in time. All the nonsense with assigining ip address and switching numbers and around is more numbers than i like working with. So i've decided to stay away from that part of networking atleast. Im in computer information systems with a concentration in internet security. I think that should be a good balance. Only thing that sounded even better is computer forensics, but you need an "in" with someone in the police dept or government to be able to get into that course.

i work at a skating rink my family opened in 2010. my aunt and uncle worked there in the late 70s and 80s along with my parents. it shut down in the 90s, so we decided to reopen it. i do a little of everything, but i mainly DJ. Wednesday is OLDSKOOL NIGHT. thats my main night to DJ. all 70s and 80s music. i have a small fanbase of people over the age of 30, who get angry if i miss a week. lol. 80% of my time is spent there. if im not working, im skating. if the rink is closed, then im writing and recording music or painting.

i plan on working there for atleast another year and a half. thats when ill have my car paid off, and ill have everything i need to go to college. I plan on going to SCAD in Atlanta for Industrial Design (automotive design and architectural design) and eventually transfering to Savannah.

my life doesnt sound too exciting... but i have fun

One thing you may want to consider in tandem with your college, find the Microsoft certification track for your career goal, take the exams as you can. Some mangers love that stuff with a college degree. It won't hurt and odds are a lot of your classes probably help for prepping for a Microsoft exam. As for forensics, you don't quite need the "in" you mentioned. Large companies, such as the bank I used to work for, if they have a BIG enough information security department, they have jobs of all kinds (forensics was part of one and so was "ethical hacker"). Food for thought, depends who you are planning to work for. I think the security road can keep you engaged and that road should have a great future I would think.

First, almost every skating rink in my location has folded up (I think there is ONE "near by") so it's neat to hear of one still in business. Second you job sounds like it can be pretty fun. I hope you plans all pan out for the next year or so

I work as a DJ and have for about 20 years. I have worked at night clubs, bars and private events. During the summer the company I work for does a lot of the area festivals introducing bands and filling space in between acts with giveaways and announcements. I have also worked spring break in panama city beach,Fl several years. We work for a few hotels on their beaches hosting contests and games for the guests. So I pretty much get paid to have fun.

I'm a Hospital Corpsman. I pretty much wake up everyday at 0500, show up at the clinic at 0630. and just sit in front of a computer until they need me. my department mainly does procedures and Emergencies (it's like a small ER) then after work i go shoot fish for dinner. just finish picking orders, and hopefully i get selected for 3rd Mar Div in San Diego, Cal.

I try to avoid selling my labor hours in the 'free' market wage economy. I prefer to work for love, not money.
