Does Upper Lower Class count?
Does Upper Lower Class count?
GP `Dave, I think all classes count, but I think we are in a class of our own : )
"It's really not how others see you, it's how you see yourself"
Maybe, I created a new Class : ) Upper-Lower Class.
I just know that we have it better then 96%of the rest of our World.
I am thankful...I read, & watch the news of other countries/people
and their living conditons, their lack of freedoms, etc.
We in North America are very fortunate.
I'll be `happy to reach the Upper/Lower Class.
Space = one step away from camping out : )
Thanks to all the members that have participated.

The upper class
Comprising only 1 to 3 percent of the United States population, the upper class holds more than 25 percent of the nation's wealth.

I am starting to believe those who say the population is being separated into two classes. Upper and lower. The middle class is disappearing and being replaced with what some people call "the working poor". Those being people who have jobs, but are living paycheck to paycheck just for the basic necessities. Not to pay for luxury items like large homes, boats, multiple cars, sports cars, etc...

Thanks SuperMember `Taz for your Post....I agree : (
If you read any Corporate Business news:
America is for sale.
America is for sale.
[X(] [X(] [X(]
The oil baron's are purchasing numerous stocks in
US companies. The American Dollar is falling : (
There's a price on everything. America better wake up
and start getting involved in the process of selecting leaders
with integrity/experience. We must block the corporate
lobbyist from government officials.
It's really frustrating trying to keep up on the World News,
and the Wars : (
We are losing so much....I just got gas for my g/f cars &
it was $2.99.9 a gal : ( Good thing it's a 4-banger : )
Peace Out

So who would fit into the "$uper Upper Cla$$" in the poll? I'm guessing your Donald Trump/Oprah Winfrey types? The billionaires.

Remember please, the liberal left media fails to remind us is that the top 1-3% of the population pays 33%+(thanks for space's correction)of all the taxes.
The left has done a fabulous brain wash job on the public making us think that they don't!!!!

Thank God for the Upper Class.
They are the people I served and put me through school when I worked at Universal Studios.
The upper class are the people who pumped their funds into my college prep high school giving me an equal opportunity to succeed.
They are the people who buy my goods and help put food on Mia's plate.
The upper class are the people who make investments in property to that Mia's dad can have his cement pooring job.
They are the people who leave my daughter big tips at her restaurant.
They upper class are the people who bring us the cababilities to have cell phones and drive cars on beautiful highways.
Look at Cuba who eliminated the upper class. Nope, wouldn't want to live there.

Sorry about the hyperbole, I retract, the top 1% pays 33% of all taxes
Here is a start where the top 5% pay 53%. This is 2001.
I'll try to find where the top 5-10% currenly pay over 70%.
*Data covers calendar year 2001, not fiscal year 2001 - and includes all income, not just wages, excluding Social Security

From the U.S. Governement:
"The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid 33.7 percent of all individual income taxes in 2002. This group of taxpayers has paid more than 30 percent of individual income taxes since 1995. Moreover, since 1990 this group’s tax share has grown faster than their income share."

So tell me again, what is wrong with rich people????

By your logic, Cowboy, all polls are flawed. They all rely on self-report and sometimes people lie. By the way, growing up I knew a lot of people who were really middle class (by the above definitions) who called themselves upper class. The consumer culture is built on the premise that all of us can live above our class (if we're willing to pay interest on ever-increasing debt). And the American dream is that all of us, with enough hard work, have an opportunity to be 'social climbers', eventually rising above the class we were born into. I'm afraid that's more probable for some than for others.
GPD, thank you for making the point about top wage earners paying most of the taxes. People forget that when they attack the rich.
