idk it sounds like you have alot more money tied up in your car. So trading straight up for a car that needs work seems like less than a good deal. Just my 2 cents

its worth at least $3,000.... if its solid underneath & the car is not compleatly abused, sure its worth $4,000... probibly $3500 would be a reasonable offer, but you may also be able to find an SS thats just as nice less the motor & trans for alot cheaper... there was an '86 SS one town up the road from me that was very nice, maroon & red, buckets & console, no engine or trans for $800... i woulda dumped in a junkyard 350 with some bolt ons 'caus im flat broke, lol, but you could also find a 350 & trans at a swap meet thats built for $1500, then you have the same car for $2300.... but its alot more work, and there could be more issues. as soon as something is runnng and street legal driving its always worth more.

$4,000.00 sounds a bit much for this car. But if it's solid in the right places it may be a decent buy after all?

The 4th gens were/are notorious for rusting the lower quarter panels. (ask me)

Check in front of and behind the rear wheels for rust or bondo. Check the trunk floor and the rocker boxes as well.

Some dude pulled up behind me in Wally World parking lot today in an '85, '86 SS Monte. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the car. Doesn't he know how much road salt is out there right now?

$4000 is about right i would say with the mechanical mods, but the fact that it's in primer is hurting it. I probably would say $3500 is a resonable offer. Check for rust, in the doors, wheels wells, floor boards, and inside the trunk, no mention on the interior, what condition is that it. If any of that is not resonable, than deduct from the $3500.

Agreed with the above. I have been watching this one near me for awhile now. Price is down from 11k. When he hits 5k I am jumping on it.
