Waaay off topic - Birds & more
I'd say about 10 feet away. We were inside the lounge and I just slid the door open a hair to get the lens through so it wouldn't distort the picture. It was really exciting to be so close to one. I've been going up there since I was a baby, and never seen a wild bear like that. I heard a lot of stories though. My dad was going up to the same resort when he was a boy too. It's a family tradition. There are 8 cabins on the resort and in years past we would rent out every one.
You see the pole that the bird feeder is hanging from... The bear stood on it's hind legs and pulled it down, bending it in several places. We tried to fix it in the morning, no one could bend it back. When I showed the owner, she said it was just a baby... lol
I'll add a few more pictures and add them to my photobucket. They're not really scenic like the ones above though.

Painted turtle laying eggs.

Storm on one side of the HWY, clear skies on the other.

As soon as a turned down the resort road, she popped out.

Just a little smaller than the other. lol And you have to have a leiney when you're in the north woods lol

Loon.

This guy was eating the seed before the bear came

Not a great picture, but that's a bald eagle.

I have some post storm/tornado pictures from my neighborhood if anyone is interested. Let me know.

I like the duck picture, cleaning itself. The colors look really nice.
Man, this is a nice thread! I feel sorry for KidSpace with his dial up connection. I hope he can wait to enjoy it without pulling his hair out.
Also, sorry for the triple post!

That would be a very good idea for an off-topic thread. I'll be sure to post 'em.
OK. Here are a few articles from our local newspaper about this storm. It was categorized as a F2.

Across my street during the storm.

My black lab, Sammy, playing in the aftermath. My mom and I share custody of her! lol

Flooded yards.

Walking down my block.

Just walking down a few more blocks.

I was out of power for 7 days. It was NOT fun!
