It's amazing what we do to get a few more mph or hp or to knock off a tenth, etc...LOL
I will be doing the cam research again soon because I will be either rebuilding the 327 in the 84 or building a 350 and putting that in. The quest for power!!! Gotta love it!! LOL

thanks man, thats the plan! with that kind of power the car should run 10's in the 1/4 with slicks..... we may end up doing a cam either this winter or next winter then this car will be done. (a cam will gain us around 50-60whp which will put the car just under 700whp)
with the cts-v getting so fast turbo monte needs more love now lol im thinking its going to get a bigger fuel pump and some nitrous

600 whp is just about exactly what I'm shooting for on my c6 with a v3 si. I'm sure you'll have a ton more torque and power under the curve though. I'm not familiar with the cts, but with the c6, it seems the 600-650 range is a sweet spot for a street car. As long as the tune is dialed in, the stock engine has no problem handling it, and either transmission seems to be able to hold it as long as you're not really beating on it at the track. Still can run 10s at the track, and hook up decently from a roll on the street with good tires.

I do not know the record but I know it's way more than I am ever thinking about making lol. 600whp is also the sweet spot for these as well for same reasons you stated lol. My headers are 2" primaries, long tubes, 3" collectors
