my day is done and Mickey Mouse says good night
It is just after two a.m. And I got home about an hour ago. I work at Disney Port Orleans Resort as a maintainence mechanic in the engineering department. I work on air conditioning equipment, plumbing, commercial and residential kitchen equipment, pool and pump equipment, electrical systems and sometimes carpentry and tile. As a general mechanic I work on what ever Mickey Mouse says is broke. Most nights though I am in the two hotel kitchens keeping things running. Tonight wasn't too bad because I had three calls and was able to milk them to cover my time all night. We have to show that we were busy for seven hours. I worked on a steam tilt skillet, a convection oven and an ice machine in one of the lodge building. It is usually easy work and I am basically there to keep the place afloat and turn over any big issues to the day shift. We run a small crew at night.
I was ticked off tonight though. I drive a mini-minivan at work. That is not a typo. I have a small Cushman White service van that is narrow like a Suzuki Samurai and probably a bit longer than a Scion XB. It has a little S cylinder engine with a 3 spd. Manual trany. It has a govenor on her that limits her top speed to 22 MPH. I like my van because I can go almost anywhere in her and my tools are close. She also has A/C and a stereo. Last week I got notice that she had to go in this coming Thursday night for her quarterly preventitive maintainence. I have Sunday and Monday off. I thought if I cleaned her up and brought her over for service while I was off they might do the service while I didn't need my service van and that would be cool. I have to lock everything up or it grows legs. I have lost a new Dewalt 18 volt drill over there. Locked in my van and never used it. I lost a few hand tools and an inferred non contact thermometer. All lost from a locked van but not locked in my tool box locked in the van. I drop it off and lock it up. I pick it up and it is locked so the only one who has access to it while she is unlocked is the service mechanic but knowbody knows nothing. Anyway I get my van today. All locked up. I notice that the crap I keep on the dash board and instument cluster is all moved. I don't think anything of it. At about seven P.M. I go to plug my phone in because it is almost dead. Now the phone charger is a piece of crap with loose wires and it is finicky. I had it in the glovebox. It was gone. Some piece of **** stole my cell phone charger. That is when I noticed the bastard took my plastic wing pieces that are part of my perscription safety glasses. Now it isn't that I lost anything huge but it is that someone took my crap. It pisses me off.
