Top Selling Cars
The best-selling passenger car continues to be an import model -- Toyota's ever-popular Camry sedan. According to the latest data, sales went up by 14.7 percent from January of last year to January of 2007 -- from 27,440 to 31,461 sold. Blue chip resale value, a low depreciation rate and a reputation for high quality continue to serve the Camry well.

The Honda Accord was not far behind, though; this mid-sized sedan actually saw a higher percentage increase in sales from January of 2006 to January of 2007. Honda sold 25,714 Accords in January of 2007 vs. 22,046 in January of 2006 -- a 16.6 percent increase.
Chevrolet rounded out the top three and saw a nice increase in sales of their popular family sedan, the Impala. With 25, 275 models sold this January the Impala was 16.8 percent up over sales in January 2006.

Nissan's redesigned Altima sedan scored even higher, posting an impressive 45.6 percent increase in sales over the same period. Nissan sold 24,394 new Altimas in January of 2007 versus just 16,758 in January of 2006. January wasn't a great time for rear-drive pony cars as the Ford Mustang slipped 19.1 percent from January of last year to January 2007, with 9,064 units sold vs. 11,208 previously.
GM had some bad news [X(]as well with its Malibu sedan falling 50 percent, from 18,407 sold in January of 2006 to just 9,209 sold this January.[X(]( Should have
dropped the Malibu & put efforts & resources into the Monte Carlo : )
Take a look at some other interesting sales news and numbers for January 2007:
- Pontiac's Grand Prix sport sedan crashed through the floor[X(][X(] -- with sales drooping 55.1 percent. But a new model (the G8) with a rear-drive layout and V-8 engine is on the way -- and GM is counting on it to staunch the flow of red ink.[sm=happy046.gif]
