Tightening up a throttle cable?

well i think i need a bit more tension in mine because when i hammer it to get a downshift it doesnt like to do it and it takes sometimes 5 secs for the car to decide to downshift sometimes it does it when i ask any tips to tighten the wire correctly and safely or is my transmission just an *******

The spring tends to get weak...(dirty corroted)
Then clean and replace it...and see if that helps...
Or purchase a new TPS...
Maybe someone else will chime in with more ideas?

Thats for a 3.8 he has the 3.1 the maf on 3.1 are on the intake tube, locations will be slightly different i'm sure too
