You sure it's not the anti-lock brakes kicking in?

I know when I "mash" on the brakes, the anti-lock brakes kick in and I feel a rumble/vibration on the pedal. In fact, it kinda feels like the pedal is trying to kick my foot off the pedal.

I would say warped rotors. Mine are warped slightly and could used turned. If you can just feel it in the pedal then have them turned, but if its bad enough that it shakes the car then you should probably get a new set.

if ya haven't bought them yet i reccommend ceramic rotors. haven't had them warp yet and been in alot of heavy braking situations. this car went through 3 sets of rotors before going to ceramic. what can i say the MC is a fat ****
