might be getting my sisters 2000 MC
I'm new here and considering getting my sisters 2000 monte carlo w/ 68k. its pretty much a base model, but will get it for cheap, and just do little things to it to make it unique. couple questions though.
how hard to convert the front fascia to accept factory fogs? what all would be needed, wiring, fogs, should i get a whole new bumper or just cut out the plastic that covers the hole.
also, thinking about putting a factory style spoiler on the back and changing the wheels. for wheels i would go with stock Monte Carlo wheels, but it would be a nicer set instead of the plain ones that are on it now.
i looked in the classifieds, and didnt see much for exterior items.
thanks

as for the fog lights, for the spot on the bumper those 2 spots are actually just screwed in pieces of plastic that can be snapped out from behind really easily.
for the wiring i'm not so sure on, you'd probably have to buy a wiring harness from gm, or fab one up yourself that just comes on when the headlights come on(which isn't so hard)
spoilers you can find on ebay, and around here sometimes
as for the rims, here's a set that might interest you
rims
here's the flat spoiler
here's a different set of wheels
Fog lights can be a tough one. Contact the dealership mechanic and see what the wiring looks like first. To add factory fog lights to my old 2001 Saturn I "would" have been required to rip apart the fuse block to add components and "needed" a new wire harness.
Now I could have fabricated all this myself, but you might want to investgate the fuse issues first... I would just put a stand alone fuse in place and run seperate wiring from there.

i added fogs on mine, looked into making it all factory like factory. like that saturn u would have to take a part the fuse block to run wiring, but ontop of that the BCM would have had to have the capibility to control them with i was uncertain of. so just hacked my own wiring.
i think the easiest way to do the fog lights would be just to wire them direct into the headlights, but that way they come on all the time with the headlights, dont know if thats what you want, but that would be the easiest way, because if you get the wiring harness thats a lot of wiring and you have to put the fog light button in the dash too
on mine i grabed power off the park lights and switched that. and theres no changing out any harness, theres actually wiring up to the headlight switch for the factory fog light switch, and under the hood theres no harness availible from gm that comes with the foglight wiring, dont ask me why they dont, but i got a couple of the parts guys to give it a shot. we had enough trouble just finding pigtails for the lights.
