Should I Join The Army?
Check out the other branches of the service. The Air Force is the most technically based of the branches and do a lot of support for the other branches. They stress continued education and is the most family friendly. Less likely you will be in harms way. The next one is the Navy. It has many of the same issues of the Air Force except that you can be out to sea for eight months at a time. My son is in the Navy and just signed up for a second tour.
Basic training sucks while you are going thru it. However after eight weeks it is over and you think back that it wasn't so bad but don't want to do it again.

I guess you can tell that to the mom's and fathers who's child comes home in a box, Honor, duty country.. WWI & II we had a purported purpose. Now a days we are the policeman of the world. I loved it when I was in, did not know any different, it was my life. Now that I look back it was a wow what the heck was I thinking. The troops are SUPER stressed out now and strained family relationships due to the constant deployments. Road side bombs, who is friend or foe? Is it worth having Joe having his head blown off? Recently I was at a VA hospital and saw a young female soldier being pushed in a wheel chair missing both arms and 1 leg. Made me just seeth seeing who she had to become to fulfill the war machines ambitions. As long as people sign up they will use you, if there is a draft for EVERYONE to be pulled from, then the Senator's & Congressmen may be less ambitious to go head hunting if they too put their kids in harms way. Your choice, Your life...........

I personally have though about it but my brother has joined. Id say its ultimately up to you. I said no when it came down to it. My brother said they treat you like crpa a lure you in with all these promises of money and a happy life and try to stray away from reality. my brother and a best friend of mine both got coned into it by money. They felt like they were too broke, couldnt afford to go to college and felt depressed so they talked to recruiters and both got conned into it. My brothers an idiot who says he went in to be able to kill people cuz he thinks hes a Bada$$ but in reality he calle dme crying one night saying its the worst decision he ever made. they told him he wouldnt be deployed for 5 years after joing. He is being deployed this month. My other friend thoma sjoined after losing his job and talking to a recruiter who told him he would make 1/4 of a million dollars in ten years and pay for all his mechanic schooling. He is still undecided but saying he is most likly going to do it.
I say do it just make sure that you find a good MOS that will transfer over well when you get out ! Plus i'm a Army brat my father was in for 23 yrs my cousin 25 yrs and my Lil brother 13 yrs he just got out and used the good ole G.I. Bill to get his Masters now he's a Manager at the VA Hospital. Good Luck !
Do what your gut tells you. It's not for every one an some join for the wrong reasons.Money is the worst reason to join.I join the Marine Corps cuz it was some thing I wanted to do. I don't regret it an would do it again in a heartbeat.
I have a lot of friends that are service members only a couple regret it.
