School Car Club!

brittany, that sounds like an awsome idea! the UWF custom car club, lol.
i gotta agree with mike, idk if a public posting would be a good idea... it could get worse than an 89 civic, lol. " what do you mean i cannot join? my prius has a tom-tom! and a sirus satalite radio... it only plays barry manalow for some reason, BUT STILL!! and it also has those custom " meat is murder" and " save the redwoods" bumperstickers!"
lol.
if you REALLY wanna avoid getting a bunch of morons, try to meet up with people face to face, start out just shooting the s*** about cars & whatnot, and if they seem like a decent person, mention about the club... that is the way guys in the car club im in do things, and so far it has worked out great, everyone gets along & supports one another.

a liitle help: as being the president of our car and truck club for almost ten years we have figured out what we needed to do, and what members that have come and gone have not liked.
these rules that im posting have worked for our club for the past 5 years, with no problems.
getting a club going is expensive, just take it slow, we where small for the first few years, know we have 18 soild members that represent our club very well.
-one of the most important things is a name( if you like it, dont worry about what others say it will catch on )
-a club banner to take to shows or gatherings( to get the name out there)
-club shirts ( where them everywhere, to get the name out there. we get people asking us about our club all over. your pretty much advertising for yourselfs )
Who Are We???
Team Thunder & Lightning was started in 2000 by two guys who had similar interests in cars and car audio. We have done a lot of shows since then and also have made a lot of great friends who are also Team members now. Are we a large group? No, and we do prefer it that way. We are not the kind of club that only sees each other at events, we see each other daily. We hang out, share ideas and are always out to have a good time.
Are you one of us?
We are looking for members who share our passion for the automobile as well as what you can do to one. If you are one that would rather work on your ride then anything we might be the club for you. We prefer members who do most of the work to their rides as possible, but if you have a shop do certain things for you that’s okay too. (BUILT -OR- BOUGHT, YOU’RE STILL SUPPORTING THE HOBBY.)
We have no guidelines for vehicle modifications, as long as it is tasteful you can do whatever you want, after all...it’s your ride!
Becoming a Member:
Anyone interested in becoming a member of Team Thunder & Lightning must do an event with the majority of the Team in order to view the candidate in a show environment. The next Team meeting after this show a vote will be cast to enter the person into the club. When the candidate is voted in they are required to pay dues of ($10 a month, & $5 a month for members under the age of 18) starting at the next meeting.
If a candidate is interested in joining over the winter months they will be required to attend as many meetings as possible to show interest in the club. Then after their first show a vote will occur.
Each up and coming member must read and understand our rules, these are not any other Team or clubs rules these are ours.
Each up and coming member will have his or her car or truck graded and must attain an average grade. (This grade is determined by the average grade in the club)
Each member will read and understand the Team agreement (over 18 only) and sign with other members present. (If any conflicts arrive that matter will be handled with according to the rules and Team agreement
Team Thunder & Lightning has the right to deny anyone from becoming a Team member.
Staying a Member:
To continue your membership with Team Thunder & Lightning each Team member must do the following each calendar year:
Stay current with monthly dues, $10 each month & $5 for members under 18. (The TEAM will not tolerate any more than 6 months behind.)
Each member will read and understand the Team agreement and sign with other members present. (If any conflicts arrive that matter will be handled with according the rules and Team agreement.)
1. Spectate or participate in at least 3 events. (Having your vehicle with you is not necessary)
2. Participate in at least 1 event per year with your vehicle registered in the event to maintain your window decal. This could be any kind of car show, cruise in, sound off, etc. (major projects that have progress and not left unfinished have exceptions to this rule once viewed by the Team.)
Code of Conduct:
1. Team members are expected to have a positive attitude towards themselves and others.
Including but not limited to: courteous, friendly, respectful, enthusiastic, supportive, and helpful.
2. Team Thunder & Lightning will not tolerate any criminal activity, illegal substances, or bad attitudes.
3. We as a Team will resolve any problems within the Team at a Team meeting where all sides of the dispute will be heard. If decisions need to be made we will vote by “Majority Rules”.
4. Respect gains Respect.
5. We want this to be a family oriented Club with everyone having a great time.
Window Decals:
1. A Window decal is to be applied to the top center windshield of Team member’s vehicle. The text of the decal can be any color as long as the flags remain yellow. This gives us unity in the Team. No Team member is allowed to change the font of their decal.
2. Before one can apply a Team decal to their vehicle they must earn their decal by attending an event with their vehicle registered in the event. This prevents members to applying a decal to “a work in progress” that may never be finished.
3. In certain instances a window decal may not fit certain windshields. In this case a smaller oval sticker may be used on a side or rear window. We would like this limitation to apply to vehicles older than 1990 or a special vehicle with a short windshield.
4. Team members are expected to pay for their own decals. (Your first decal is on the team, no fee$)
5. If a Team member quits or has their membership revoked their decal must be removed in witness of an active member.
Team Apparel:
1. Wearing Team apparel shows off our unity as an active Car Club. By wearing Team shirts, hats, etc… you are representing the Team both in and out of the car show atmosphere. We expect you to be friendly, professional and adhere to the code of conduct when wearing Team apparel.
2. As with the window decals any Team apparel must maintain the symmetry of yellow flags regardless of color of the garment, unless the garment itself is yellow.
3. A team member is not limited to any type of apparel. Jackets, shirts, etc… are all accessible to you. Creative ideas are always welcomed. Team members are responsible for the cost of any and all Team apparel.
4. Team shirts must be worn at all events.
Team Dues (what they can do).
1. To help out a member financially if they can't afford to attend a show or break down.
2. To pay for cookouts, parties, etc that the Team may have or fill a cooler at a large event.
3. To sponsor trophies at shows that are not our own.
4. To help out a good cause like a benefit or charity auction.
5. At a large event where several Team vehicles are going and it makes sense to take along another vehicle for traveling purposes it may be used to help fill the gas tank of this vehicle.
please dont just copy ours, but maybe use them as a little guideline for what your triing to accomplish.
